Tape
to CD Transfer
Tape
recordings were never meant to last. Tapes can become stretched,
broken or damaged by magnetic fields. In such circumstances tapes
can, over time, finish up unplayable and precious memories will
be lost forever.
- In
the short term we can significantly reduce the stickiness of
deteriorating tape.
- We
can mend breaks
- Remove
damaged or stretched sections.
- Remove
most pops and clicks
-
Reduce background hiss.
- Transfer
the recording onto a CD
- A
CD stores information in a digital form and is not subject to
the same deterioration as tape.

How
long is my cassette?
On
the side of the cassette will be a letter, usually a large capital
C or a D followed by two numbers. That
number is the maximum number of minutes playing time on the cassette.
A C60 tape means it has a playing time of 1 hour. Although the
C60 and C90 were the most numerous, other cassettes which we have
seen are C15, C30, and even two hour C120's!

Voices
were still recovered from this cassette despite
being damaged by stretching, creasing and several snaps.

Record
to CD Transfer
If
you have a rare or commercially unobtainable (on CD) recording
on LP wheree you are not the performer we can make one
copy of it with the written permission of the copyright hodler
(usually the recording artist or their record company). This
has to be where you own the copy of that record (or tape) and
the CD is only for your own use. These conditions are set down
in UK and international Copyright Laws, designed to protect
the interests of the original recording artist.
We therefore ask that if you send any commercially produced
recordings, that you include with it the written permission
from the copyright holder and you sign the declaration at the
bottom of the order form stating that the record is your property
and the CD is for your use only.

Listening to your Recording
The CD of your recording can be played on an ordinary CD player
or personal computer. If you want to keep your recording safe
on a digital CD but don't have a CD player or computer we can
make you a copy or copies on tape as part of the restoration
service.
Your Old Tape/Record/Video
After the restoration and transfer process, your tape will be
returned to you. However nothing can stop it deteriorating further
with age.
VHS Video to DVD

In response to popular demand we are now able to transfer your
family video footage to DVD. Have your Wedding or Christening
or important family occasions protected by transferring them
from degradable video tape to a secure digital format. Video
footage is unlike pure audio and we cannot clean up or improve
the original quality of filming. With video transfer what you
see on the original cassette is literally what you get on DVD.
As the video player and cassette are rapidly becoming obsolete
and unavailable we are being asked more and more to transfer
these precious memories to a digital format.
How
much do you charge?
All
the necessary processes are covered by a single fee based on
the playing time of your tape/record. For a 3 hour (usually
labelled E180) video tape the cost is £30 and for a four
hour (E240) tape costs £40.

|
| N.B.
As in all our other work we have to obey strict copyright
laws. So this service is only available for your own family
video footage. We CANNOT copy favourite films or TV programs
to DVD for our customers. |
